# How to read a record — Singapore companies gazetted to be struck off

> What the record is, what the status means, and what is left out.

## How to read these records

### What “gazetted to be struck off” means

ACRA can strike a company off when it believes the company is no longer carrying on business, and a company can
apply to be struck off itself. In both cases a notice is published first. The company stays on the register until
the strike-off is completed.

### It can still be stopped

A creditor or any interested person can object within the period set by the notice, and the company can be kept
on the register.

### What the record does not say

Who applied for the strike-off, the date of the notice, and how many people the company employed.

### What is not here

Names of directors or any individual. Addresses. Companies already struck off. Schools, clinics, health and care
providers. Sole proprietorships and partnerships.

**Director of a company about to be struck off?**

The internal data of a company that employed 50 people or more (Slack or Microsoft Teams archive, documentation, project histories) may still have value after it has stopped operating.

[Check whether this company’s data qualifies →](/pro.md) We are paid by the buyer if a partnership is signed, never by the company. Whether personal data in those archives can be transferred is a legal question for whoever controls them. Not affiliated with ACRA.
